RENOVATION & ADDITION
SUPPORTIVE ARCHITECTURE™ IN PRACTICE
RIVER VIEW
Design for the life ahead.
Newly married, the owners chose a nearly 200-year-old house high above the Delaware River as the home they hoped to share for the rest of their lives.
Their decisions began with that long view. An expanded kitchen opened to a former porch, creating an informal dining area connected to everyday life. Fewer bedrooms allowed one to become a more generous primary suite. Relocating the stair improved circulation through the house.
The renovation also substantially improved energy performance, while new openings brought in more daylight and strengthened views toward the river. Future accessibility was considered as part of the planning, allowing the house to adapt if their needs change.
Rather than simply modernizing an old house, the owners reshaped it around the life they wanted now—without losing sight of the years ahead.
