RENOVATION & ADDITION
SUPPORTIVE ARCHITECTURE™ IN PRACTICE
LA CASA GRANDE
The homeowners wanted their standard development house to better fit family life; a larger kitchen and dining area, better everyday entrance, professional gym, and dedicated home theater.
The challenge was bringing those priorities together.
As the possibilities were explored, circulation became the organizing idea. A central spine and relocated stairs connected entrances, living spaces, bedrooms, and the lower level.
Opening the kitchen and dining area to outdoor views brought another decision: how to enjoy the light and views while controlling intense western sun.
The theater required different choices. Its location, acoustics, circulation, and HVAC had to support the experience the owners wanted without compromising the rest of the house.
One decision shaped the next, turning individual wants into a home that worked together.
