Doing more with less.<\/strong><\/p>

The homeowners loved the minimalist character of their modern home and wanted a large screened porch that extended outdoor living through much of the year.<\/p>

Their priorities called for restraint rather than complexity.<\/p>

We approached the porch almost like a haiku\u2014doing more with less. A 24-foot square rests on four anchoring posts. A barrel-vaulted clerestory brings light into its center and helps capture seasonal warmth when conditions allow.<\/p>

Around it, a curved deck provides circulation and contrasts with the porch’s simple geometry. The result is both minimal and expressive\u2014a sheltered outdoor room that remains connected to its surroundings.<\/p>

Years later, the house sold. On the day of closing, the new owners called about another project. They said they had bought the house because of the porch.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
